The Best Outdoor Locations in Lithia & Tampa Bay for Family Photos
As a family and newborn photographer here in Lithia, one of the questions I hear most often is: “Where should we take our photos?”
We’re lucky to live in an area filled with gorgeous natural light, peaceful green spaces, and beautiful scenery. Whether you’re expecting your first baby or wrangling three little ones for updated family portraits, these are my favorite local spots that photograph beautifully every time.
- Alderman’s Ford Nature Preserve
This quiet gem is just minutes from FishHawk and offers a little bit of everything: wooden boardwalks, shaded trails, river views, and peaceful nature all around. The light here is so dreamy in the late afternoon. It’s perfect for families who want a relaxed, nature-filled vibe.
2. Alafia River State Park
Alafia is a beautiful blend of natural Florida terrain with wide-open fields, winding trails, and lush greenery. It’s a fantastic option for families or maternity sessions looking for an earthy, rustic backdrop. Bonus: It’s spacious and quiet–perfect for little ones who love to roam!
3. Bonnet Springs Park – Lakeland, FL
This new, thoughtfully designed park is absolutely stunning and packed with photo-friendly features. Think modern gardens, curated landscaping, walkways, and open lawns. It’s ideal for maternity or family sessions with a mix of natural beauty and stylish flair.
4. Apollo Beach Nature Preserve – Apollo Beach, FL
Want coastal views without the big beach crowds? This spot give you peaceful sand, grassy dunes, and beautiful light–especially at golden hour. It’s a great choice for more relaxed, barefoot-in-the-sand family or maternity portraits close to home.
5. Downtown Plant City – Plant City, FL
If you’re into charm and character, Downtown Plant City is a hidden gem. With it’s brick-paved streets, vintage storefronts, murals, and quaint vibe, it’s perfect for families who want a more urban-yet-small-town look. It also works beautifully for milestone or maternity sessions with a little personality.
